I am a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) who are currently lobbying the Federal Government for our services to fall under the scope of the Medicare Mental Health Plan Scheme. We are currently unable to access funding from the scheme of Medicare at this time. Therefore a mental health plan is not required.
No, you DO NOT need a referral to see me. But a referral can be received if you have information from your GP or agency. You will be asked to complete an intake form detailing some personal information on why you would like some counselling.
No, counsellors are not part of Medicare Better Access Scheme therefore you cannot claim on Medicare. This means that you do not require a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. This is beneficial to you if you do not want your sessions to be listed on your public health record
Yes, I have a National Police check and a current Working with Children Card (WWCC)
