Corporate idec began in 1990 as Big Country Buildings by partners Peter Gartshore and Ross Leggatt. Peter came from a background in accounting while Ross gained local and international experience in structural engineering. Peter and Ross are still vitally involved with the company but the management has shifted to a board of directors. Having fully integrated in-house design, drafting, fabrication, protective coating and erection capability combined with a commitment to quality and safety sets us apart. idec operates out of a combined fabrication and office facility at Hemmant on the south side of Brisbane close to the Gateway Bridge. Recent projects include the Acoustic Enclosure for the Legacy Way tunnel, Precast Yard building in Adelaide, Workshop buildings at the Yarrabee, Lake Vermont and Minerva Mine in Central QLD, and LNG buildings at Curtis Island.
