Yamba Museum - the Story House was established in 1982 by the Port of Yamba Historical Society and is located in the heart of town, adjacent to the Golf Club. The Society is a not for profit organisation composed entirely of volunteers, with no paid staff. All of the Society's programs, including operating the museum, are carried out by members who volunteer their time and expertise. Awards won by Yamba Museum 2000 National Bank Communitylinks Cultural Award for the Matthew Flinders Bicentenary Community Celebrations. 2007 Clarence Valley Council Cultural Organisation of the year. 2008 PYHS President Marea Buist awarded inaugural IMAGiNE individual Award, for Excellence, by Museums & Galleries NSW. 2011 Museums & Galleries NSW IMAGiNE commendation for special exhibition, "Nursery Rhymes". 2012 Museums & Galleries NSW IMAGiNE Award for audience Engagement for "Ghosts of WW! - 101 local heroes"
