The Citizens Advice Bureau ACT aspires to a community that is well informed and well resourced, in which isolation is broken down, connections are made, people have equitable access, disadvantage is overcome and people are supported and have options in implementing their decisions and choices The Citizens Advice Bureau ACT has been serving the Canberra community for 30 years, building on the rich heritage of Citizens Advice Bureaus going back to 1939 Within this aspiration, we see our role as maintaining the human interface in information provision and we prioritise working with those who are affected by disadvantage, including the socially isolated, people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds By educating people about their options, rights and responsibilities we can enhance their access to community resources & empower them to make informed decisions about their own life situations
